Connecticut Car Accident Lawyer Illustrates Common Dangerous Driving Tactics

Monday Nov 30, 2009
Paul Justice asked:

Many people inhibit some common driving dangerous tactics that they have no idea what the real impact is. These driving tactics not only cause auto accidents for those who commit the act, but they cause other drivers to have to quickly react to the act forcing to get into an auto accident. Connecticut car accident lawyers have seen these driving tactics cause accident for years and they are tired of it, so they have decided to come forth and bring us some information about these dangerous driving tactics. The first dangerous driving tactic is tailgating. Sure you’ve heard not to due it before, but honestly you know you do it. Connecticut car accident lawyers say in all actuality tailgating is a form of road rage. Tailgating incurs when a driver is angry that the car in front of them is not going fast enough so they try to get as close as possible to the car in front of them. They do this because they are trying to get the car to go faster and provide the impression that they will hit the car in front of them if they do not either go faster or switch lanes.

Another dangerous driving tactic that Connecticut car accident lawyers commonly see is passing on the right hand side. When drivers pass on the right hand side they are usually doing this at a pretty high speed because they tend to wind in and out of cars because they think that the left most lane is not going fast enough. When drivers so this, other cars are not expecting a car to go flying past them in the right hand side. Therefore another typical driver might be regularly checking their mirrors to switch lanes that by the time that they actually start to move the speeding car passing on the right hand side will collide with the other car. This is a very dangerous yet common move to pass on the right hand side, however Connecticut car accident lawyers strongly suggest to not practice this behavior.

The last dangerous driving tactic is changing lanes without using your blinker. This is a very common tactic and Connecticut car accident lawyers strongly suggest against it. People might not use a blinker because they think no one is around, or that no one is close enough to be effected by it. However this is a wrong assumption because you must remember that you have blind spots where cars could be, but you can’t just see them.

Connecticut car accident lawyers strongly urge you to not use these common dangerous driving tactics for the benefit of yourself as well as all other drivers on the road. Tailgating, passing on the right hand side, and not using your blinker are all very common driving tactics that should be avoided at all costs. Using these driving tactics will increase your risk of both getting into an auto accident and causing someone else’s auto accident.

Dealing With Car Accidents

Monday Nov 30, 2009
Alva Pao-pei Alfonso asked:

Accidents Happen

Car accidents are one of the leading causes of personal injury claims. Car accidents can cause not just physical but emotional trauma to the victims. There are several contributing factors to these accidents, some of them are:

•    Driver behavior

•    Speed of the vehicles involved

•    Driver impairment (driving under the influence, etc)

•    Road structure

•    Vehicle design and engine condition

Alcohol-related car accidents alone account for 41% of all traffic fatalities since 2006, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It is always good practice to educate your self on how to best avoid road accidents.

Here are some tips on how you can do that:

•    Be extra careful when parking. A lot of car accidents happen in this area. Make sure you follow parking area rules for your own safety.

•    Be careful at intersections. Slow down and look both ways before crossing. Even if the traffic light is red, do not readily assume that all drivers will stop because of that.

•    Keep a safe distance from other vehicles.

•    Wear your seatbelt.

•    Always check to see if your vehicle is in good mechanical condition.

•    Adapt your driving to the road conditions.

•    Try to avoid driving at night.

Accidents do happen, sometimes no matter how careful you are. It helps if you take extra precautions to make sure that you do your part in keeping your self and your family safe.

What to do in case of a car accident

When you have figured in a car accident, it may initially come as a shock to you. However, it would help in your insurance claim or in your pursuit of justice by filing a lawsuit regarding the car accident if you will remember to perform a few things.

Traffic accidents usually carry legal consequences, and it is best if you can familiarize yourself with them so that you can at least remember what you should do to help with the case or claim afterwards. You can also educate members of your family on the matter.

Remember to:

•    Gather information – get the names, addresses, contact numbers of the people involved in the accident (the people who figured in the accident, police officers who responded on the scene, witnesses)

•    Get the name of the insurance companies of the other parties involved in the accident

•    Get the license place number of the other vehicles involved

•    If possible, take a sketch or photo of the scene of the accident

•    Take note if any of the people involved in the car accident are under the influence of alcohol

What comes next?

Getting competent legal advice after the car accident is essential. A personal injury lawyer can help you get the right kind of medical treatment and rehabilitation you need to recover from the accident.

Sound legal advice can also make sure that liability is proved so that you can be fully compensated. It is also essential so that you will understand what you are entitled to and what do the statutes of limitations prefer.

There are many reputable law firms in Los Angeles that can give you free legal advice on the matter. You can get good representation to make sure that you obtain what is due you.

Aside from getting sound legal advice, make sure that you cooperate with the treatment your doctor will recommend to assure that you will make a full recovery from the accident.

Car Accidents - Sometimes Drivers or the Cars Fault

Sunday Nov 29, 2009
Lindsay Nolan asked:

Car accidents occur due to many reasons. Car accidents are also called road traffic accidents RTAs. They may be due to the negligence of the drivers or maybe the driver was too young or not properly trained. Accidents occur due to the public neglecting traffic rules and regulations, at places of signals, using cell phones while in traffic, teenage driving, unconditioned vehicles etc. Proper lanes should be provided by every government, wide advertisement banner free roads, fluorescent indicators throughout the roads medical facility at proper distances to give first aid to the injured at highways, obstacle free pathway etc. The government should check these criterions regularly.

Unconditioned cars or after using few years cars are condemned at regular period in most of the countries. This helps to avoid few types of accidents. Rear end collisions, head on collisions, car wrecks and roll on collisions are some of the types. Rear end collisions are of two types, both moving and one at rest and other moving. The second one is whiplash and in that when a car is not in mobility i.e, at rest and another car, which is moving, collides with the stationery one into the rear part of it. The neck is in rest position and the persons wearing of seat belt undergo injury around neck area also known as whiplash. The neck is thrown forward when tied with a seat belt. This is also caused because when a person suffers from a sudden jolt to their head or body. The sudden jolting causes damages to the muscles, soft tissues, ligaments in the neck and tendons.

Car wrecks happen due heavy truck collision. These occur due to unlicenced drivers. The claiming person may get up to $400,000 to $500,000 from an insurance company. These car accidents kill atleast 1.2 million people worldwide every year, 40 times of the killed will be the injured ones each year. Roll over have become more common in recent years, perhaps due to the increase in popularity of taller vans and people carriers. Rollovers can often be fatal, especially if the occupants are ejected because they were not wearing seat belts. When the driver did not wear a seat belt 83% of ejections during rollovers were fatal. When seat belts are worn only 25% are numbered. Rollovers have contributed to more than 10,000 deaths for 1 year even though they only account for about 3 % on overall car accidents.

Backup collisions happen when a driver reverses the car into an object, person, or other car. Although most cars have facility in such a way that rear view mirrors which are adequate for detecting vehicles behind a car, they are inadequate facility for detecting small children or objects close to the ground, which fall in the car’s blind spots.

Measures taken to avoid car accidents are: -

1. The government must provide good roads, with as many safety measures like speed breakers and traffic signs. There should be traffic lights at all the important and dangerous crossings.

2. The car owner must ensure that he maintains his car in good condition. Servicing the vehicle, having the right kind and size of tires with proper air is a must too.

3. While driving on wet roads don’t over speed and never let your car fish tail.

4. Always follow the traffic rules and never jump signals or lanes.

5. Be a responsible citizen and don’t drive under the influence of alcohol.

6. While backing up in a crowded area always look through your rear mirror and reverse slowly or else get your co driver to get down and help you.

Vallejo, California Car Accident Suspect Arrested

Sunday Nov 29, 2009
Robert Reeves asked:

A Richmond man has been arrested in a hit-and-run car accident in Vallejo, California that killed a 72-year-old man, and injured two people.

The car accident occurred on October 20th at about 4:15 pm, when Antonio Fisher ran a red light as he was driving along Tuolumne. He broadsided another vehicle, driven by 72-year-old Pablo Mata. There were two other passengers in Mata’s car – 51-year-old Donna Mata, and 27-year-old John Mata. Later that night, Pablo Mata died in the hospital from force trauma injuries sustained in the car accident. His two passengers were injured, and were rushed to hospital.

As soon as the car accident occurred, Fisher apparently got out of his car with his girlfriend, and they both fled from the scene of the car accident. As he was running, Fisher removed his shirt, and discarded it in a backyard. However, video surveillance tapes at a local convenience store earlier in the day had evidence of his wearing the shirt.

Fisher’s crime would have gone unpunished if he hadn’t been for a parole violation. On Tuesday, he was arrested by Sacramento police for a parole violation charge. As police interviewed him, they became suspicious about his involvement in the Vallejo car accident, because of witness descriptions that they received, as well as surveillance footage. During interviews with the police, he admitted to having being involved in the car accident, although he reportedly refused to identify his passenger. Fisher was identified by a witness in a photo line up. He is now being held for the parole violation, and is being questioned in relation to the car accident.

It’s a difficult time for the Mata family, and we extend our sincere condolences to them. The Vallejo and Sacramento police deserve special mention for their adept handling of the accident, and the manner in which Fisher was caught and arrested. Vallejo police have now requested the Solano County District Attorney’s Office to file vehicular manslaughter charges against Fisher.

The Mata family can now breathe a sigh of relief that the man who was responsible for causing Pablo’s death has been found and arrested. This man not only caused a car accident through his reckless driving, but left his badly injured victims on the streets to suffer while he fled. Fisher appears to have been forward thinking enough to discard his shirt hoping to evade identification, but unfortunately for him, the police were more vigilant than he had bargained for. This man deserves to be held accountable for his actions. The Mata family should consider discussing their next steps with a California car accident lawyer.

Teen Drivers and Car Accidents

Sunday Nov 29, 2009
Nick Johnson asked:

Teenagers are new to both the responsibilities of driving and to the dangers of driving. To them, four wheels and a license is all about freedom, which is why nearly 75% of all teenagers will be involved in a car accident. Car accidents involving teenagers range anywhere from fender benders and one car accidents to highway pileups and drunk driving accidents.

When a teenager has shown a serious lack in judgment and has made very poor decisions, such as getting behind the wheel after engaging in alcohol or recreational drug use, the car accidents which follow can be devastating. If you or a family member has been carelessly hit by a teenager under the influence, it is advisable to speak with an auto accident attorney as soon as possible. An attorney can advise you of your rights to sue, or the rights you may have on a family member’s behalf.

Teenage drivers often make mistakes, and many of those mistakes are innocent enough. Yet despite all the education, the public service announcements, parental input, and life experience put together, there are still an abundance of teens that get behind the wheel in an altered state of mind. While it can be a difficult decision to file an auto accident lawsuit against a teenager, in many cases a lawsuit is the only way to re-coupe even some of what has been shattered and lost.

Teenagers face many grown up choices every day, from being responsible behind the wheel of a car to not drinking underage and then driving. These grown up choices can also have grown up consequences. While a teenager is on so many levels still a child, the law considers them old enough to be responsible.

When they neglect to be responsible, someone definitely pays for it. Consulting with an attorney and filing a lawsuit against a teenager who has behaved poorly is another grown up response to a grown up choice. Besides jail time, a lawsuit sends a very solid and clear message that driving under the influence of anything is not cool, and it can be very costly in both the financial world, and the human world. Sometimes a lawsuit is a victim’s only legal voice in a situation that is unfair, brought about by someone else’s carelessness.

Teenagers have very few possessions. In fact few of them even own the car they turned your life upside with. From state to state the laws vary as to whether or not you can file an auto accident lawsuit against a teenager or whether you can file an auto accident lawsuit against their parents. Only a qualified attorney can explain the finite details of the law in your state.

Some states allow an injured party to hold the parent responsible for the teenager’s actions and you can file a lawsuit against the teenager’s parents. Other states require that you can only file a lawsuit against the offending party regardless of their age.

Of course, filing an auto accident lawsuit of any kind requires a qualified and highly skilled attorney. Filing a lawsuit against a teenager responsible for a devastating auto accident is naturally no different. Much of the outcome is a result of the quality of the attorney and their ability to liken the story to a jury.

A good defense is going to paint the child as a good kid who made a small mistake. While an aggressive attorney will be able to shatter the perception of how innocent the teenager is, you don’t want someone attacking him so vehemently that the jury feels bad for the perpetrator of a devastating car accident. You want an attorney who can handle the entire event from the car accident to the court room behavior with professionalism and grace.

Following a car accident, there are always numerous decisions to make, paperwork to be handled, and other car accident related headaches. Your auto accident attorney should not be yet another car accident headache to contend with. It’s a far cry from a walk in the park to file an auto accident lawsuit following a devastating car accident, and your attorney should be able to handle most things without having to hound you.

Once the facts of the car accident are collected and the attorney has been able to file on your behalf, you should be able to turn your attention back to other pressing matters such as your health and the health of your loved ones. Quality updates and informative matters are of course essential, but a high quality attorney is going to be able to handle most things that evolve from the case with a simple phone call and his or her best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Florida Car Accident Lawyers - Common Causes of Car Accidents

Saturday Nov 28, 2009
Markus Skupeika asked:

Among all the personal injury cases, road accidents that involve motorcycles or cars are the most frightening. It can affect the passengers, drivers and the passers by as well.

People involved in car accident can suffer different types of injuries - minor to serious. Severe car accidents may result in fatalities even.

With the increased amount of road traffic, chances of automobile accident are also higher nowadays. Life after car accident is sometimes more painful than the incident itself. Job loss, unemployment, reduced income, disability, injuries and top of all the feeling of being sufferer due to some one else’s negligence make life miserable.

You will be shocked to know that in America one person die in car accident in every 13 minutes! Then just think how scary the figure will be if you calculate road accident casualty of a year!

Not all the victims are aware of their legal rights and they fail to claim what they deserve. Even if we subtract the number of people who cannot make it to court, hundreds of thousands car accident compensation claim cases are filed in the court of the states every year. Hundreds of automobile accidents take place in Florida and consult Florida car accident attorney to get their claim filed.

Car accident lawyers help victims and their families get compensated for all their damages and injuries. But compensation is the solution once the accident has happened already; the question is how the instances of car accidents can be reduced if not stopped completely?

Let’s review the most common reasons of car crashes. Once we know the reason, we can take proper measures to avoid it.

Driver’s inefficiency:

Drivers often forget their responsibilities and get tempted to break road rules and traffic laws desperately. Crossing speed limits, tailgating, disobeying traffic signals are the common causes of car accident. Such acts during rainy or stormy nights can lead to disasters.

Driving under the influence of alcohol or any other toxins:

Drunk driving could be dangerous. People lose control over themselves when they are drunk or under influence of toxins. There is an allowance although; a certain quantity of alcohol is considered ok for drivers, any amount higher than that should not be taken when you are going to drive.

Lack of concentration:

While driving full concentration should be given towards it, no active participation in any other activities is desired. Drivers often forget their duties and engage themselves in active discussion with co-passengers, talking over cell phones or listening to music while driving.

The above mentioned factors can be controlled. Several laws have been introduced at state level too to control such activities. However, mass awareness is required to prevent road accidents due to driver’s negligence.

Below are some points where, not the driver but another party is responsible for the accidents. Whoever is responsible for the accident, Florida residents should always contact Florida personal injury lawyers for further legal help. Let’s proceed with rest of the reasons:

Defective vehicle or sudden break downs:

Cars and motorcycles are nothing but machines and machines can be defective or can crash any time. However, drivers and motorcycle riders should give their vehicles a check periodically to see if all the parts are working properly or not. Also, not a single mechanical problem should be left unattended.

Defective roads:

Local administrative body is responsible to ensure the roads and highways are safe for driving. If they fail to perform their duty, legal action can be taken against them.

Bad weather:

Heavy rain, stormy weather, snowfall, sustained wind and other natural calamities often lead to road accidents. Drivers, motorists and pedestrians should be extra careful on road during bad weather.

The World’s Worst Drivers – Car Accident Statistics From Around the World

Saturday Nov 28, 2009
David Halbert asked:

Millions of Car Accidents occur worldwide every year, and the fatalities due to these accidents are also in the millions. Most of the time, it is somehow the driver who is responsible for the accident.

According to a Traffic Report by the WHO, road accidents kill more than 1.2 million people annually, and around fifty million people get injured or disabled. These numbers are increasing with the passage of years. Out of over 1.2 million worldwide, 90% of the deaths are caused in the countries that have low or middle level incomes. Globally, more than half of the total accidents that occur are with drivers between the age of 15 and 44 years, and the drivers in more than 73% of cases are males.

In the UK, the number of accidents has considerably decreased in percentage over the past four or five years. Recent reports show that the road accidents have decreased by one to two percent since the year 2006.

According to an estimate, the number of accidents every year in the US is more than six million. These accidents injure millions, while thousands of people are killed. The number of people killed in car accidents in the US is thirteen times that killed in the UK. However, this difference is not very dramatic as the US is 40 times the size of UK.

In the EU, the country with the highest number of Car accidents and fatalities is Italy followed by Poland. The UK also has a relatively high rate as compared to other EU countries. Around ten thousand car accidents occur in the UK each day, and most of these are the result of a mistake on the driver’s part. Car accidents comprise more than 52% of the total accidents in the EU.

Out of the total accidents in the EU, 67% are in the urban areas and in 75% of the total accidents, the driver is male. Young drivers between age 18 and 25 are involved in more than 21% of the total accidents and fatalities. Research shows that most of the accidents occur due to reckless driving and intoxication. Other than this, there are large numbers of rollover accidents involving young adults and teenage drivers. The number of accidents due to intoxication is also increasing continuously. In the US, about 70 to 80 people die every day due to accidents related to alcohol.

In accidents in the EU and US, most the cars are insured, and Car Accident Compensation Claims can be made along with any Car Accident Injury claims. However, there are many countries where there is no insurance, and hence Car accident claims cannot be made. This is especially true for the low and medium income countries of Africa and Asia where accidents are in large percentages, and Car Accident Compensation Claims and Car Accident Injury Claims are not usually made.

Car Insurance Just Got a Little Greener

Saturday Nov 28, 2009
Rakesh Gaikwad asked:

These days everyone you meet is trying to find a way to make their lives a bit more eco friendly, and there are lots and lots of ways to get it done. Years ago, doing your part to save the environment involved recycling bottles and changing all the light bulbs in your house to those energy saving bulbs. Now here we are years later, and there are all sorts of new and exciting ways to preserve the earth. Holiday businesses give you the chance to make up for the carbon emissions that come from your plane ride by paying a small fee that can be used to help plant more trees.

Grocery stores have introduced incentives for you to save and reuse your plastic shopping bags for you next trip to the store. Banks provide you with the opportunity to have a small amount deducted from your account and donated to a number of eco friendly causes. It seems that everywhere you look, there are more and more ways to add a little more green to your life and now that even extends on to your automobile.

Driving motor vehicles has never been perceived as environment friendly. Actually, motoring around in your car was determined to be at the top of the list of the worst things you could do to the environment. This was especially the case with any four-wheel drive vehicles. These vehicles that were once considered to be reserved for country folk and then the latest accessory for all the young trendy football mums, were enemies of the environment.

Now, things have begun to change. First, there are the new lines of green cars that are now available on the market, including fuel hybrids that are suppose to cause less pollution than cars of the past. Then we have the little city cars running on electricity that produce way less pollution. For a brief time, auto-gas was offered as an option for a lower cost and less pollution.

These days there are websites popping up all over the Internet with advice on the green car selection process to help you pick the ideal green car options for you. It is not just the young crowd getting involved anymore; green cars are becoming popular with folks of all ages.

Therefore, it is not a surprise with the way the world is heading, that with the addition of green cars so comes green car insurance.

Green car insurance was built on the idea of “reduce, recycle and reuse” and remains true by recycling as much of the metal from a car as possible, once a write off is issued.

They also encourage their customers to use reconditioned parts for their cars when possible. This may very well become the new standard in car insurance, with customers being rewarded for their action with discounts. If the green trend continues as it has been, there is no doubt all of our car insurance will be getting a littler greener.

More Electric Cars In London Next Decade!

Friday Nov 27, 2009

London could be awash with Electric Cars by the middle of the next decade, as PSA Citroen admitted it is targeting the capital in a big sales drive for its new IOn C-zero models - but only if the Government offers good enough subsidies for motorists to buy them.  The french motor giant said that it intends to put its first mainstream electric cars in London motor showrooms by this time next year.

The companies research and manufacturing chief, Guillaume Faury, told the Evening Standard that a three year, £2.7billion ramp-up will see Peugeot Citroen aiming for 25,000 sales in Europe by 2015.

“We will be targeting big cities with congestion chargesand emission zones, ” said Faury.

“London is nauturally an important place for us. ” The IOn and C-Zero which are being developed with Mitsubishi of Japan will have an 80-mile range on a single charge.  The most expensive parts of the cars are their lithium-ion batteries costing around £10,000 each. Peugeot Citroen is making it plain that its electric cars will not be comercially viable unless there are substantial government subsidies. In the UK, Government incentive schemes being talked about could provide up to £5,000 to ubuy a new car.

“Incentive schemes will make or break this technology,” said Faury. “We are saying on price that in pay-per-monthfinance package the cost of an electric car will be no more expensive than running a conventional car on finance.

A Broker Can Find You Cheaper Car Insurance

Friday Nov 27, 2009
David Thomson asked:

When purchasing motor insurance, then a broker can generally find you cheaper car insurance than you would be able to find for yourself. This is due to the experience they have and the ability of being able to shop around within the market place. They will have access to insurance companies which the individual does not.

Many motorists make the mistake of just renewing their insurance; however they can often get cheaper car insurance if they change the provider they are currently with. While you might have got a good deal on your insurance the previous year it does not mean you will again. In fact insurance companies are known to set you off on an excellent rate and then boost it up each consecutive year. With this in mind if you have been renewing your policy year after year you could be paying much more than you need to.

While the majority of households now know they can save money by switching their electric supplier they should remember the same goes when wanting cheaper car insurance. However it is clear they are failing to do so with recent research highlighting that 43% of motorists have remained with their provider for a period of three of more years. 24% of individuals have remained with their insurance company for ten years or more which could mean they are seriously paying too much for their car insurance.

When it comes to saving money on your motor insurance there are several things you can do to help bring it down. Even before you buy you can help yourself. The bigger the engine size of the car the more it will cost to insure so keep this mind when looking for a new car. Also a sporty model or one that is classed as a “super car” will cost more when it comes to the insurance so if it is only a matter of looks then consider again. Adding extra features to keep the car safe goes a long way to saving money when it comes to finding car insurance much cheaper. By installing such features as car alarms, steering wheel locks, etching the windows or fitting a tracking device can all save you money. A simple thing like keeping a car in a garage instead of just on a driveway can also help when it comes to saving money.

Also bear in mind when approaching a broker that they will be able to go to search with insurers tailored to their specific needs. For example there are lenders who will tailor insurance specifically for those who are young, old or for women drivers. Very often insurers will offer cheaper insurance for people in these circumstances and this is where you can get the best deal. Just about anyone can make savings and get cheaper car insurance if they allow a broker to look around on their behalf. Once you have the quotes to compare for the cheapest then you also have to make sure you take a look at the terms and conditions before signing on the dotted line.
