If this car was fitted with a Better Place battery swap system it could go those 150 miles, swap for a full battery and go another 150 miles. Tesla is alredy considerin g this for their family car. In that scenario, the owner does not even own for the battery, he pays for the miles only, a payment which incorporated the price of the battary which can be recharged 2-3 thousand times.

The most logical approach would be to have electric cars armed with a small diesel engine charging whenever you are out of grid… if an electric car had a say small 30-40 lt charge and a fully charged battery it would give easily an autonomy of 1000 km
